BALIKPAPAN—Masing ingat dengan Aprilia (17), cewek hamil tersangka kasus pencurian yang ditangkap oleh Satuan Resere Kriminal (Reskrim) Polres Balikpapan Kamis (6/1) lalu Yah, track record kejahatan tersangka bertambah lagi usai terungkapnya satu lagi kasus pencurian di wilayah hukum Polsek Balikpapan Utara yang juga dilakukan oleh tersangka.
Dari data yang dikumpulkan harian ini, kejadian pencurian itu terjadi di rumah milik Mulia Grey Sinaga (21), Minggu (2/1) lalu. Rumah Mes yang ditempati korban disatroni tersangka dan hasilnya satu unit telepon genggam jenis Nokia E75 berhasil dicuri.
Dari pengakuan korban, saat kejadian diduga pelaku beraksi disaat korban dan beberapa penghuni mess tengah lelap tertidur. “Nekat sekali ceek itu (tersangka, red ) kok berani sekali masuk ke dalam mess,” kata korban saat dimintai keterangan di Mapolsek Utara, beberapa waktu lalu.
Kapolres Balikpapan AKBP A Rafik melalui Kapolsek Balikpapan Utara Kompol Andrias Susanto menerangkan, tak kurang 4 kejahatan pencurian yang dilakukan tersangka. Satu diantaranya di lakukan pada bulan awal Januari atau beberapa hari sebelum tertangkap.

US software company Intuit and Nokia have launched Intuit GoConnect mobile marketing service for small businesses in India. A marketing pilot for GoConnect will begin in New Delhi and Chandigarh on 23 November. Aimed at the millions of Indian micro and small businesses with less than ten employees, Intuit GoConnect enables users to create personalised messages that resonate with their customers, from a special offer for their birthday to a note to let them know their order has arrived. Intuit GoConnect is a subscription service that works via mobile phone and the web. The service is available through Nokia Priority Dealers as well as at intuit.in/goconnect. A six month subscription for Intuit GoConnect is priced at INR 2400 and includes 10,000 SMSs. A year's subscription is priced at INR 3600 and includes 20,000 SMSs. GoConnect is initially available for Nokia C3, Nokia C5, Nokia E71, Nokia E72, Nokia E75 and Nokia 2730 handsets, with more being added at the beginning of December.

Great stock is placed in the idea that the mobile phone is the one thing that you will always have with you. And that means that in the current wintery weather sweeping through Europe, stranding countless travellers and making the trips of pretty much everyone that little bit more… interesting…. has made the mobile phone an even more vital tool for the traveller. Given that I was attempting a London to Edinburgh journey yesterday, I’ve some thoughts on the mobile phone to choose when the modern ill wind blows from the north.
The big thing is, of course, battery power. While it’s likely that any journey should be started without a full battery, when it all starts to go wrong (for example, in my case, the train engine breaking down, and an overloaded train that terminates at Darlington instead of Edinburgh) you won’t be on a full battery charge. Assuming you’ve been doing normal use of your phone, that’s a couple of hours already lost.
Given that, I wouldn’t want a phone, such as the HTC Desire HD, that runs out of power halfway through a regular day, because once the journey goes wrong, I’m already on a limited resource. Smart thinking would be to keep your phone on charge in the train, but that isn’t always practical (or remembered). A portable charger, such as the Proporta Turbo Charger , would help here.
In all cases though, the cold weather will decrease the life of your battery, magnifying any issues you might have. Most people don’t carry a spare charger with them, so you’ll have with you only what you have in the battery.

Struggling mobile phone giant Nokia plans to allow cellphone operators to bypass credit cards and deduct the cost of downloaded applications directly from users in Indonesia next year.
Dubbed âoperator billing,â it makes it easier for software vendors to sell applications directly to users through Nokiaâs Ovi Store without the hassle of credit cards.
During a press briefing in Jakarta last week, Kenny Mathers, head of developer relations for Forum Nokia Asia Pacific, said the companyâs Ovi Store was the only mobile application store in the world to offer operator billing.
With low credit card penetration often cited as a barrier to customers buying mobile applications in Indonesia, Nokia said operator billing should eliminate that hurdle, even for prepaid users, since the cost of applications can be deducted directly from a userâs mobile phone credit.

Robbers hit 3 Virac homes - Catanduanes Tribune
Undaunted by the recent filing of charges against a suspected robber, criminals struck again in the past week, victimizing three homes in the capital town of Virac, two of them on a single day.
The Gogon Sirangan home of Vicente Rubio, 51, went first, with the suspect or suspects gaining entry into the wooden home by removing the blades of a jalousie window at a storeroom and from there breaking into the main two-storey house via the same method.
Shortly after 2 A.M. of Oct. 20, the couple heard the sound of something heavy being dropped and their dog started barking and Rubio went around to verify. Seeing nothing but sensing that somebody was walking around the house, the couple nevertheless went to sleep.
They awoke at 5:30 A.M. to find the main door already open. Missing from a ground floor were an office laptop worth P30,000.00, US$260, 100 British pounds, a pair of wedding rings worth P15,000.00, a necklace with pendant valued at P7,000.00, two rings worth P20,000.00 in all, and P50,000.00 cash intended for the tuition of the couple’s son in Manila.

A native of Panganiban town and his wife, both citizens of Canada, started their vacation in Catanduanes on a bad note when an unidentified man took one of their bags from a Filcab van at the Virac pier site.
Ruben de Luna, 52, and his wife Rossana, told the police that they arrived at Salvacion, Panganiban at 12:30 P.M. of Oct. 29 to discover that one of their bags, marked "Rolls Royce," was missing from their baggage unloaded from the van. The bag contained his HP 17-inch laptop and the couple’s Canadian passports.
He said that the bag was loaded along with their baggage at the pier site and then they left for Century Family Mall to buy something before the van left the terminal.
Meanwhile, robbers took P50,000 cash and over P60,000 worth of valuables from the residence of a 62-year old resident of Cavinitan last Oct. 31.
